Raph “MR COMB” Starkier was born in Paris but moved to Brussels 15 years ago.

He developped an interest in drums and percussions as early as age 10* (thanks to his IRCAM electronical sound engineer dad),  then he started to play in many rock bands in Brussels.

In 2004  he went to study music at  Antwerpen jazz studio, record an album with a ragga band called “RIONSNOIR” and he composed and record with the help of Ken Giles (sound engineer sister of mercy) his fisrt ep for his “black’n’roll band called “THE NEGRO CONSPIRACY”.

Then he started making live bands and playing drums for hip hop Mc’s, such as Akro (ex-Starflam) or Pablo Andres. In fact Pablo asked him to work on a new project, during which time he met Sir Samuel (Saïan Supa Crew) who decided to produce and arrange with him (and dj Fun) the album “Nino del sol”. Released in 2012, this album won the Best Urban Music award in Belgium (Octave de la Musique 2012). 

MR COMB has worked with many other musicians : Omar Perry (Lee Scratch Perry’s son), Sergent Garcia, FéFé (ex-Saïan Supa Crew), Cléo, Soul T., etc…

He has also played big scenes, among others the Dour Festival, les Francofolies, Couleur Café, l’Ancienne Belgique, le Botanique…or for RENO, during their 2011 European Summer tour.

Also a DJ…

After having caught the vinyle collector virus from an uncle, he throws his first mix in 2002.

He was resident DJ for years at le “PP CAFE” and “Le Roi des Belges” in the center of Brussels,but also played for a lot of parties and clubs in Belgium.

2010 is the year when he went to spin for the first time in Switzerland, with FOOD FOR YA SOUL ( a combined team of dj’s, producers and graffiti artists based in Lausanne), and became part of the crew.

Dj and host for radio, and one of the “DO THE DILLA” co-founder (dothedilla.tumblr.com), he has shared the stage with many others : Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Bilal, Exile, Houseshoes, Son Of Kick, Yarah Bravo, Lefto, Chief, Beat Assaillant, Grems, Mayer Hawthorne, Moka Only, etc…

He now performs throughout Europe as a dj, drummer or member of FOOD FOR YA SOUL…
